1. NAME OF PROGRAM: In-Home Aide Services (IHA)
2. PURPOSE OF PROGRAM: In-Home Aide services are intended to assist individuals with maintaining self-sufficiency and improving quality of life. In-Home Aide services are those paraprofessional services which assist adults with essential home management tasks or personal care tasks to enable adults to remain and function effectively in their own home as long as possible. Home management tasks include: shopping for food and other essentials, preparing meals, light housekeeping, laundry and care of clothing, and assistance with budgeting and paying bills. Personal care services include: assistance with personal hygiene including bathing, hair care, shaving, fingernail care, assistance with dressing, assistance with toileting, assistance with mobility, and assistance with feeding.
3. APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Application for IHA services is made with the Cabarrus County Department of Social Services through the Adult Service Intake unit. Applications may be made by phone or in person.
4. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- The individual must be unable to carry out tasks essential to the activities of daily living and have no responsible persons available to perform these tasks.
- Funding for these services come from a variety of sources with each source having specific requirements.
- Individuals interested in In-Home Aide services should contact the Adult Service Intake unit to discuss their specific needs and the availability of services.
- The amount or type of services received will be based on need as determined by an assessment and service plan completed by a social worker.
5. OTHER PROGRAM DETAILS: The intent of IHA services is to assist but not replace family members in carrying out their responsibilities for those persons needing care and support. IHA services are available to persons living in the Cabarrus County area only.
