1. NAME OF PROGRAM: Individual and Family Adjustment Services

2. PURPOSE OF PROGRAM: This service provides assistance to families with children in utilizing community resources and their own support systems. Counseling is provided to help the family and individual family members with household management, budgeting, substance abuse, mental retardation issues, emotional problems and school related problems. The social worker locates and arranges needed community resources so the family may remain self-sufficient.

3. APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Applications are taken in the Crisis Unit at the Department of Social Services. Applications may also be taken through home visits and at certain outreach locations.

4. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: This service is available to Cabarrus County residents based on the need for the service without regard to income.

5. OTHER PROGRAM DETAILS: The DSS agency may also serve as a representative payee for SSI and Social Security benefits for the family members in paying bills and managing the client’s funds.
