1. NAME OF PROGRAM: Subsidized Child Care

2. PURPOSE OF PROGRAM: Subsidized child care is a program offered by the Department of Social Services that assists parents in paying for the cost of child care.

3. APPLICATION PROCEDURES: All applications must be completed at the Department of Social Services.

4. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be a resident of Cabarrus County.
  2. Applicant must be employed 30 hours or more per week for full-time assistance (part-time assistance may be available) or attend school with at least 12 credit hours per semester for full-time assistance (part-time assistance may be available) or attend a high school completion course at least 16 hours per week or receive Work First Family Assistance and work with an Employment Services Social Worker.
  3. Applicant must meet income eligibility guidelines.
  4. All applicants with income are required to pay a monthly parent fee for child care services. Monthly fees are based on a percentage of family gross monthly wages.
