1. NAME OF PROGRAM: Medical Eye Care Program
2. PURPOSE OF PROGRAM: To provide eye care services to individuals with limited incomes. The services provided are eye examinations, treatment, surgery, glaucoma screenings, vision screenings for pre-school and school-age children, low vision evaluations, correction of limited vision with low-vision aids or corrective lenses, prostheses and eye care education.
3. APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Applications are taken in the Crisis Unit at the Department of Social Services.
4. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Need for service.
- Must be income eligible.
- Must be a legal resident of North Carolina.
5. OTHER PROGRAM DETAILS: If an individual is not eligible for the Medical Eye Care Program referrals may be made to the Lion’s Club.
