Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)
What is HHW?
Household Hazardous Waste materials can hurt the environment and damage the health of humans and animals if not disposed of properly. Basically, they are the poisons which you store out of the reach of children and pets.

Electronics are also accepted at the HHW Facility on the days listed below, or by appointment. Call 704-920-3280. Note that Computer Monitors have a $5.00 disposal fee, TVs under 21" are $5.00, over 21" $10.00
Hours of Operation
The Cabarrus County Household Hazardous Waste Facility will accept household hazardous materials ONLY on the days/times shown below:
1st Wednesday of each month from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm 3rd Saturday of each month from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
HHW Facility ALSO serves as a Recycling Convenience Center for Drop Off Recycling - see hours here

How to Bring Hazardous Materials to the Facility
- Pack in boxes lined with newspaper to absorb any leaks. Do NOT place in trash bags!
- Leave materials in their original containers and separate by type of waste.
- Never mix materials in the same container.
- Wrap glass bottles ONLY with newspapers (for padding).
- If not in original container, specify material with marker or masking tape label.
- If container is leaking put in additional container and use cat litter to absorb the spill.
- Don’t transport any material in the same part of your vehicle as passengers or pets.
For Your Safety
- Refrain from smoking at the facility for your safety and the safety of the workers.
- Remain in your vehicle with engine off; workers will unload materials from vehicle.
