Yes, at the Library: A celebration of Seuss

'Fox in Socks' and kids who rock

March 20, 2017 – Earlier this month, Cabarrus County Public Library System participated in Read Across America Day, celebrated annually on Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Each branch hosted a variety of activities to commemorate the literary holiday, from games and crafts with Concord Parks & Rec and the Concord Youth Council, to story times and movie showings.

Read Across America Day honors the works of Dr. Seuss, who penned popular children’s books featuring characters like the "Cat in the Hat," "The Grinch," and "The Lorax," to name a few.kan11.jpg

In Kannapolis, families tested their guessing skills by estimating how many fish were in a bowl - the winning guesses came from patrons Traci Brock (350 fish) and Kaiden Adkins (376 fish). The winners received donated library books, as well as teddy bears courtesy of the Kannapolis Friends of the Library.

The library hosts weekly story times and literacy events at each branch. For a complete list of library programs and descriptions, please visit
